REGULATIONS

  1. The invited academies can register on the website www.komask.be/contest: choose “Academies”.
  2. After the registration the academy is considered as a participating academy.
  3. Once registered, the academy will receive a unique password which will allow the Masters to fill in the registration form on the website www.komask.be/contest: choose “Masters”.
  4. The participating Academies of Fine Arts nominate 2 graduated Masters, who use Printmaking in their graduation project (academic year 2018–2019).
  5. The nominated Masters will provide 3 works, each no larger than 110 x 300 cm.
  6. Shipment to the venue of the contest is at the expense of the participants.
  7. KoMASK will cover the return shipment cost.
  8. The works will be shipped back to the participating academies, not to the individual artists.
  9. The regular packaging is a roll-shaped container.
  10. All other forms of packaging are considered non-regular.
  11. The cost of a non-regular return shipment will always be at the expense of the participant.
  12. KoMASK will not frame the art works. If framing is a part of the work, it is considered as a non-regular shipment (as stipulated in the regulations – number 10).
    The exhibition will make use of different means of presentation.
  13. The works will be insured by KoMASK vzw from the moment they are delivered until they are shipped to another location.
  14. KoMASK does not accept any liability for actions carried out by third parties.
  15. If works need the support of multimedia devices, only a limited number of digital equipment is available. Please notify us well in advance.
  16. The works selected by the participating Academies of Fine Arts must be sent to:

  17. The artwork must arrive between October 21st and October 25th 2019.
  18. Each artwork must be labelled with the artwork document, which can be downloaded from the website
    www.komask.be/contest.
  19. Every participating Master completes the online registration form, available on the website of KoMASK (www.komask.be/contest).
  20. The registration period of the academies ends on July 15th, 2019.
  21. The registration period of the Masters ends on August 2nd, 2019.
  22. Once registered it will not be possible to change the submitted works.
  23. All valid entries and submitted works will appear in the catalogue Masters Printmaking 2019.
  24. KoMASK will appoint an independent curator who will create the exhibition(s).
  25. All works which are submitted within the limits, stated by these regulations, will be part of the competition but the curator can decide to reduce the number of works in the exhibition.
  26. Works received after the deadline (October 25th 2019), works outside the regular size (as stipulated in the regulations – number 9) or not easy to mount, will not be retained for the contest or the catalogue.
  27. All participating works will be presented to the jury.
  28. The decision of the jury is irrevocable and cannot be challenged.
  29. The members of the jury, an independent group of experts, will select a winner and an ‘honorable mention’. The winner will receive a prize of € 2000.
  30. In addition, KoMASK may choose to purchase the awarded work.
  31. On November 14th, 2019 the winner of the Masters Printmaking 2019 and the ‘honorable mention’ will be announced during the opening of the exhibition.
  32. The exhibition will take place in the “Lange Zaal” of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Venusstraat 36, 2000 Antwerp, Belgium from November 15th  till November 26th 2019.
  33. The participants, by taking part in the contest, agree:
    A. to all the regulations of the contest and the exhibition.
    B. to the availability of the works during the period of the preparation of the contest, the judging and
    the exhibition period (25/10/19-27/11/19).
    C. to the publication of photos of their works in the catalogue and the use of these photos by KoMASK for
    promotional activities related to the contest and the exhibition.
